I love baking and so I thought why not make some treats for the dog. She loves eating (what dog doesn’t). Our dog will eat just about everything. Literally. About eight years ago we couldn’t find our lizard in it’s cage. We frantically starting looking all over the house and then we realized we didn’t know where the dog was either. Yep, you guessed it. We found Keidi in the corner of a bedroom with the lizard’s tail and back legs sticking out of her mouth. My husband’s lucky he still has his fingers after prying it out. That was a very bad night. Our son was so upset. We still have no idea how she got into the cage, she’s short and there was a lock on it. Crafty, that’s all I can say.
So back to the treats. Tonight I made her Peanut Butter Carrot Dog Treats and she absolutely LOVES them. I think they taste pretty good myself.
Smelling something good and waiting with anticipation.
2 cups flour (regular or whole wheat)
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 cup peanut butter (creamy or crunchy)
1 cup milk (I used 2% because that’s what I had)
1/4 cup shredded carrots
Preheat oven to 375’F. In a bowl, combine flour and the baking powder. In another bowl, mix the peanut butter, carrots and milk together. Add the dry ingredients to the wet and mix well.
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and knead just until dough comes together.
Roll the dough until about 1/4″ thickness and then use a cookie cutter to cut out the treats. Bake for about 20 minutes on parchment lined baking sheets until they are lightly browned. Cool on a wire rack, then store in an airtight container. I used a small cutter, because my dog is a mini, and I got about 35 treats.
