Today is a great day…Easter. It’s special to me in many ways but mostly because Jesus was resurrected from the dead to live again and sit at the right had of God. The whole reason we have Easter is because of this story.
24 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. 2 And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. 5 And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but has risen.
It’s hard to believe this story. I’ll admit there are several stories in the bible that are hard for us to believe. I guess that’s where faith & hope come in to play.
When my son was younger, we loved coloring eggs, and we’d tell him the story of Easter while we were decorating, we wanted him to understand what it all meant. We had so much fun playing with all of the different colors and special decorations we’d create on each egg. I remember setting up small bowls with water and then adding drops of food coloring in them, swirling it around with a toothpick and then dipping the eggs in them. Tie-dye eggs where so much fun. We’d have such a huge mess all over the kitchen table. (I miss those days)
Even though we don’t color and hide eggs any longer, we still have dinner with our parents and even though the “kids” are young adults now they still have an egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa’s. We adults enjoy watching them hunt as much as they enjoy hunting. (I think they do it to make us happy – but, that’s OK)
I hope you all can take the day to enjoy it for what it is…the Resurrection of Christ. A total gift of love, and adoration for human kind given to us from God because He loves us so much that he gave His only begotten Son.
Happy Easter ~Bam
I’ve said this before, but, I love having a front door decoration and I don’t have one for the Fourth of July. I went to Michael’s Craft Store to see what I could come up with that would be fairly inexpensive.
Almost everything was on sale so I got all of this stuff for about $20. An antique looking flower tin, red and blue flowers, three little beaded decorations, two little flags, and red, white and blue ribbon.
I don’t know what these little decorations are called but I just loved they way they look. I bought one and pulled it apart into three stems.
Then I used a pair of my husband’s wire cutters to cut the flowers apart. (I only bought one stem of each color)
I rumpled up old newspaper to fill the inside of the tin and added the flowers and bead decorations. I wasn’t going to any particular look, so I just placed things here and there and until I got the look I wanted, and then added a flag to each side.
To get the ribbons to stick to the tin I used a Xyron 150 sticker maker.
That was pretty tricky because the ribbon is really thin and flimsy but it worked out great. I used the permanent adhesive, which is really sticky. Lastly I tied a bow around the top with all three ribbons. I’m really happy with the way it turned out.
I love Spring, it’s such a beautiful time here in the Midwest. Flowers, green grass, the smell of fresh rain. I just love everything about it.
Because we had such a horrible winter I was very concerned about one of my Lilac bushes.
This is how it looked when the last blizzard hit in January. I really didn’t think it would survive.
Amazingly, this it it today. They must be pretty resilient. There’s even a little bird nest in it. I can’t wait to see the pretty flowers, I just love the smell of Lilacs and the deep purple color is just beautiful.
It seems like everything in our yard is coming to life at the same time. I love spring flowers. I love everything about them. The color. The fragrance. The bright green leaves. Ah, wonderful, beautiful and full of new life. It always amazes me that such pretty flowers can come from such ugly bulbs. (Goes to show, don’t judge a book by it’s cover. Right?)
We’ve even “adopted” two new yard animals this spring. Fun, fun.
Even the robin’s are making a new home. Just love it!!!
Enjoy the outdoors this Spring!!~Bam
I can get a little obsessed with organization and over this last weekend I felt like I really needed to take control of my scarf collection.
I looked quit a bit on Pinterest for some ideas but mostly I came up with these strange looking hangers with round shower rings taped to them. I really didn’t like that idea because I’m trying to get rid of the bulk my scarfs make in the closet. I had about five each wrapped around a hanger. It was just too much. I was super excited, because it only cost me a little over $10.00, and it took very little time.
My husband and I went to the local Menards and I came up with this instead.
This is a bathroom towel organizer but I added some plain round shower curtain rings and neatly tucked my scarfs away. (next chance I get I’m going to have to organize them by color but I was in a hurry to get dinner started)
At the side of the last bar there are two hooks, so. I was excited to be able to hang up a couple of my favorite hats.
Yippee, for organization!!! I know, the small things make me happy~Bam
