It seems like Brownie has gotten into the habit of thinking he needs a treat every time he goes out and comes back in, so we go through dog biscuits pretty quickly. When that happens we usually give him a small spoon on plain peanut butter, which is why I decided to make these biscuits for him.
Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it before I started making these, I was completely out of whole wheat flour, so I had to use regular non-bleached white flour. These are the only biscuits I’ve made Brownie using regular flour but here’s the recipe anyway.
1 cup flour (I prefer whole wheat)
1/2 mashed up banana
2 Tablespoons of Jiff Powdered Peanut Butter
1 Tablespoon of water – or enough to make a sticky dough
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray.
Mix all of the ingredients together and then roll it out on a lightly floured surface. Cut out biscuits, lay them out on the baking sheet, and I poked them with a fork so they don’t puff up so much (this step doesn’t need to be done – I just like to do it). Then bake them for about 20 minutes. Brownie likes his biscuits extra crunchy. On a side note – these biscuits are salt free. I suppose a pinch of salt could be added for extra flavor but I just didn’t see a need for it.
Clearly, Brownie didn’t want to wait until they were done. Raw dough is bad for doggy…..I had to move the dough over so he couldn’t reach it.
I used a small flower cookie cutter – I usually switch between this cutter and a small bone shaped cutter. He gets treats so often I don’t want to give him anything large – otherwise he wouldn’t eat his dog food. He’s so spoiled.
